I went to Danca no Arante with with Christian and Don, who
hired motorbikes for the day and we all rode out to Pantano do Sul just to see
it. This is pretty much the best
restaurant I have seen. Its in Pantano
do Sul, a small fishing village in the south of the island and at this time of
year it is not too busy. In fact it was
mid afternoon when we arrived so at one time we were the only people in the
place. Why I like it, it’s a combination
of different things, it’s not a complicated place, but what
makes it so special is that it has great food in a simple wooden building right
next to the beach. Over the years every
diner has left a note on white paper and taped it to the walls, ceiling, beams,
doors or just about every free space available, of which there is not much now.
I ended up going there a second time, taking
Julia to show her what I was talking about. Of course, she hates all seafood but even she thought it was great.
Really is a special place and the picante sauce is the hottest I’ve had in
months and goes really well with the prawns.
If anyone actually reads this and is going to Florionapolis you have to
go here, really! http://www.bardoarante.com.br/

Came across your post as I was searching for the name of this post-it note restaurant, couldn't remember it. It was a favorite of mine as well because of it's uniqueness. I lived in Brazil during 2003... it didn't have quite as many notes on the walls back then! I wonder if mine was still there at the time of your photos! We were sitting at the table just behind yours, I believe, where the wooden beam comes down the wall. Watching a rather strange couple as they drunkenly danced on the beach to their (rather loud!) Celine Dion dvd they had playing in their Ford truck! Oh the memories.
